體驗私房菜

蔡san節目勾起大家食私房菜的癮,朋友生日,大家一起'大平伙'.由於大平伙做的是四川菜,大家早預備心情受辣.前菜帶來美好的前奏,招牌菜口水雞不負眾望,主理人畫家性情,對擺位.整潔有美學上的執著.每道菜出場序細心安排,其中荳腐非常滑溜,腸胃熱哄哄時,畫家太太兼主廚凊唱一曲新彊歌謠,慰解食客的精神需要,再以合照作結,體驗完滿.

香港人買香港手信書,幹麼?

香港最強手信不只是推介必買手信,每個手信介紹都附有訪問,作者果然是新聞系出身,寫出一種人情味.試想手信難道不是人情味的呈現嗎?書中很多食物,對我來說,熟識不過,當我看見皇后大道西卓越餅家豆沙軟餅的介紹,我開心透了,這是我中學時莫名其妙愛上的軟餅,哈哈,上了手信榜,終於有人欣賞了.較早前路過餅家,我告訴阿姨這軟餅,她一點興趣也沒有啊!
話說回來,香港手信只限於食物嗎?在作者筆下,呈現怎麼樣的香港?作者如何參與建構香港?

Brain Trekking

I joined the brain trekking (walkathon for supporting brain tumor centre) sat morning - last minute plan. I met Dr. D Chan in the corridor last Friday at 6.30 p.m.and he invited me to join. Therefore, i had a chance to visit LKF FINDS (sponsor of the event), though I did not stay there for the closing cremeony.
An old tram now appears on the Peak podium. It is used as a visitor centre now. i think that it is a creative idea.

今時今日服務態度

周末幫襯了3間食肆,服務窩心,食物稱心,環境舒適.當中待應態度親切殷勤,非常欣賞他們敬業樂業的精神.
第一間位於灣仔船街葡式餐廳Nino's cozinha,Fri nite經過見超好氣氛,印象深刻.翌曰看完話劇,想去喝杯咖啡,結果吃了個大餐,焗鴨飯美味非常,位量又大,足夠我一人吃三餐.還成為我星期日的晚餐.星期一的午餐.第二間是老趙,行完基督教書展,重遊山林道,老趙改了裝修,仍保持食物質素,蕃茄蟹粉檬有新鮮感.
買了書,急不及待找間咖啡室坐下看看,記起了附近時裝店暨咖啡室initia1(尖沙咀金馬倫道48號地下2號舖),喝了大大杯拉花又滑又香咖啡,型格咖啡室餐牌有心思,甜品格外精緻.足足坐了兩小時.不想走啊!

聽道

最近聽了幾場很有力量的講道,講者年齡不同,風格迴異,但上帝一再透過崇拜時間,彰顯祂自己.第一次是滕近輝牧師,引述很多經文,具信心的宣講,沒半句廢話,上帝的話本身,就是力量.第二次是在另一個教會聽梁錦華傳道從以色列人得嗎哪的聖經章節看神祂作為主,如何供應嗎哪,作生命反思.今個星期,教會請了內地牧師主講,我第一次聽內地牧師(中國基督教協會副總幹事單渭祥牧師)主講,談人與神要建立個人關係,條理分明,例子貼身直接,最令我留下深刻印象,是他提到上帝是阿伯拉罕的神,是以撒的神,是雅各的神.上帝看我們每一個人為獨特,比我自己更了解我自己的需要.我看樹寧現在式劇目耶穌13門徒,看到的也是關係的主.

姊妹萬歲

去書展,為了買余達心牧師的新書.結果巧遇在華文當值的阿庭太太,在攤位閒聊之間,發現超靚好書,一本曰本人畫台灣人譯類似交換日記.我一個人住那種漫畫書的信仰版本,由乎意外有感性分享,也有到肉的屬靈反省,後半部份談單身姊妹困惑,真誠坦率,有信仰角度.把這壓力主題以笑彈引發,絕妙;至於已婚姊妹故事也叫人忍俊不禁-卡哇伊我的37個基督徒朋友,校園出版,姊妹必愛!https://shop.campus.org.tw/ReadingBanquet/08.9-10/Kawaiicover.htm

Have a 'Diamond' Day!

I am not referring to real Diamond, but the district ' Diamond Hill'

XH once suggested me trying afternoon tea in Nan Lian Garden, Diamond Hill. I went there this saturday. The place was so peaceful, quiet. I took lots of photos. The tea set was fantastic, the cheesecake and coffee were absolutely good. They gave me a seat that can see the mill wheel. I felt so happy having good food in such beautiful environment. The vegetarian cookies tasted like the usual cookies, except that they use vegetable oil and vanilla essence instead of butter.

After having lovely afternoon tea, I shopped in the Hollywood centre, from book to clothes to household small goods.
My dinner at Another Ant costed around $120. I was so drawn by the paintings on the wall (the femininity the painitings portrayed) and I enjoyed the dinner very much,

Re-naming

The Sheung Wan Police Married Quarter (though it is more like central than Sheung Wan to me) has been renamed as Central School Site in the 2008 Policy Address. And it is officially out of govt's land selling list.The gesture is iimportant. It has redined the nature of the site.

越南風情

Nico1e想試位於Soho的越南餐廳Cafe Annam,擇日同往,環境服務不俗,食物可以,當中lemon 1emongrass特飲較美味,生牛肉河交足課,牛油雞翼夠脆,不過沒有牛油香.芸芸越南餐廳中,表現不甚突出.

Seafood dinner

After watching Ah So's food programs on TV, I had an urge to cook.

So on sunday, I prepared for myself and my mum a seafood dinner. Four dishes around HK$100

Italian tomato from neaby italian store $20
Yunan noodle 1 pack $5 wellcome

1. Shrimp, so fresh, the simple the better
2. Light, milky, substantial taste : Yunan noodle in fish soup (based on Ah So's recipe)
3. Very refreshing seafood feel: Use fish soup with chinese celery to boil oysters
4. Sour and full of vitamins: Tomato fish soup

Brought a book to Mackie

This was my second visit to the restaurant. This restaurant encourages people to exchange books.
This time, I left one and took one from the bookshelf . Recycling of books....

About the food, the lemon cheesecake was good but the coffee was not hot enough. Based on the picture, Judy's waffle looked yummy. We chatted and chatted and chatted. From tea time to dinner time.

JCCAC

After watching Spencer's photos of JCCAC in facebook, I decided to visit this centre. On saturday, FP and I had lunch at EXP and then proceeded to shek kip mei. The centre has lots to offer. It houses artists of different backgrounds. I was impressed by the current exhibtion. There are two pieces of works that I love most. The first one is 'drop'. Music note is written in the form of ink dot, date chop.
The other one is 'Still remember'. A rose is kept frozen in an ice cube, which is technically challenging. As Photo taking is not allowed inside the rooms, I cannot show you on blog what they are like. So go there and see it yourself!

看..我們的議員

大班節目也文也武一大班甚吸引,因為大班獨特風格能迫議員露出真章.透過節目,我發現自己的看法,接近大部份人的看法,例如毛孟靜,好似適合做記者多過做政客,謝偉俊保持持平,上半部得到觀眾給了高分數(沒看下半部,因為電視沒配備高清盒).如果立法會選舉前有這個節目,就絕妙.

Vicky Cristina barcelona

Simply because my love for barcelona, I went to see the movie immediately. Barcelona is a very special place. Spanish people will dance Tango in the street. I had taken photo of such scene when I visited there few years ago.

Some said that Woody Allen loves Europe. So he filmed in Europe. I doubt very much after watching this movie. Barcelona is deceptively charming but its charm is in its incompleteness. Antoni Gaudi's church 'temple de la sargada familia' is the perfect example. I do not see Woody Allen endorsing the European 'romantic elements' (provided that he captures correctly the 'Europeanness'). The 'romantic spirit' is almost presnted as close to craziness. Obviously, overwhelming emotions can kill and lead to chaos.

When we are not confident of our choices, we seek change. People need change to know who they really are, though not necessarily include knowing what they want. We know what we don't want like vicky and cristina but we are not sure of what we really want. We choose by negation. And love is philosophical.

If you don't love Woody Allen, you will not love this film. You will be probably get annoyed by the third person narration.
Yet the sexy actor and actresses could still lure you to the cinema. Trust me.

無餡麵包及朱古力磚

麵包款色愈來愈多,令我傾心的倒是最簡單的餐包.豬仔包.朱古力則偏愛黑朱古力,果仁黑朱古力磚最適合我胃口,大囗大囗咬多暢快!那些賣相美觀,用料高級的,我可不鍾情啊!有些事物,還是愈簡單愈好.

剪髮日之下午餐

重陽節下午三時多先到又一城上海火百合食下午'餐',打算之後剪髮,若剪髮剪得太久,也不會太餓.主菜選了河蝦野菌拉麵,河蝦對版,又爽又清甜,湯也好,麵質可以.前菜雞絲粉皮的花生醬稍甜,致太膩.及後甜品桂花紅荳禚紅荳味香,帶著紅荳所引發的甜蜜幸福感.

八月居

為秋天景色,一行人去了八月居,可惜空有維港無敵海景,食物質素極不穩定,套餐中一味龍蝦稻庭烏冬,龍蝦有澀味,疑似部長的服務員說龍蝦無問題,叫我們食'伊麵'好了,但那裡有伊麵啊!後來換了個糊了的海鮮炒河,我們草草吃了便算.其實最恐怖的是朋友的特飲,藍糖水太多,還以為是萬聖節的古惑飲品,這地方簡直是沒有內涵的美人.

I truly love this headphones. The sound quality is surprisingly good (um...perhaps I use shuffle). Anyway, the design is cool and practical, perfect for female runner like me ...hahaha. It makes my running far more interesting. With such beautiful weather, I could not find excuse for not running.

還坐在輪椅上等康復的1i1ian熱切邀請我到訪新居,更為我花心思張羅一餐家常飯,而lilian媽媽在背後做軍師,在英明領導下,不善廚藝的印傭有高水準表現,咸蛋蒸肉餅恰到好處,甚至超越so far so good.我也從中偷師,打算試試在粟米湯中加芫茜增加食味.楊生嘛!亦努力為我們切新彊哈蜜瓜及泡茶.我在楊家亦首次嘗到南非茶.飲飽食醉後,已在籌算下次再聚,一同試pizza hut新line手作pizza,甚至到會所查經,一路說著,享受著「未出發,先興奮」的滿足.

很多朋友進了人生另一階段,結婚生子,但是他們並沒有把我這個朋友忘掉,在忙著買兒童書,行玩具反斗城及想著那個餐適合孕婦小童之餘,請我吃了生日飯,讓我參與分享了你們的快樂.其實能夠再見,知道大家一切安好,我已非常高興,多謝你們令我榮升Auntie gigi.

Some thoughts after watching vcd 'sparrow'文雀

The movie starts with the question: `Who is the boss? (a challenge to the power distribution). After individual struggle to assert/desire 'the boss/leader' position, they finally find the answer. And the ending of the movie re-defines 'power' itself.

The nostaglia appearance of the movie reflects how individual looks at themselves through the 'collective'. The character 'jenny' allows the male characters projecting their personal desires. Each of the male characters sees jenny differently but they do not know Jenny. Jenny is never alone. What they see through Jenny is actually who they are.

There lies the beauty of collective memory. We may have different feelings/projections towards Star Ferry Pier, Queen's Pier and all other buildings but through cinema, we once again share, identify and become the collective.

It is a movie that has a romantic spirit. In the narrative of nostaglia, thre is sth macho. The other, the outsider, the one who needs help is the one who represents desire. Remember those shots - camera, lipsticks, trench coat, high heels, balloons.... Desire is sth you could not trap/tame. It is in you but it is not easy to control. The old trick of femme fatale?!

Don't worry. Men, at least, still have 'brothers'. Leader is the leader not because of his skills but because he thinks for the good of his brothers........
