New menu every single day

The chef who worked in the small cafe of my working place is very innovative. The menu is constantly changing. I find it fun to discover what today special is. You know, it ranges from Russiab baked fish to Mexican chicken pasta to Paella. The chef must be someone who likes food. I can feel the chef and the staff's passion for food.

幾個月前開始,又再出現四腳蛇.對益蟲,我是非常忍耐,但這條實在太大膽,用對大眼瞪著我們,還跳來跳去,伏在漂亮曲奇罐上示威.剛巧阿姨到訪,它定眼看著阿姨聽電話.我阿姨很怕昆蟲,我也怕起來.結果要請姨丈到來處理,騷擾了一個早上,我沒有了上街的興趣,決定留家收拾收拾.

Although Beatles is legendary, I did not really listen carefully what they sing and I admitted that I barely know their songs after having a look at the complete 'scores' of beatles. surprise suprise surprise! Every day could be a surprise.

Ingredients

I like to read list of ingredients on food packaging. lately, I came across the following:

I am eating flavour that is natural as well as articial :o
Very deconstructive, I am not eating blueberry, not its flavour, but its natural and articial flavour...

From now on, how should I define my eating experience? Am I really eating food? What is food? And what is not food? Is food contributing to our survival? Or our death? Philosophical indeed....

What happen to our world?
We don't eat chairs. We don't eat tables but we eat chemicals.....
We buy 'bonds', but not the bonds we think, because it is called mini bonds. Although all I know is James bond.

Russian Imperial Eggs

I saw Russian eggs before but was not so impressed, just an egg...
But after watching forbes TV program, I know more about the eggs. Imperial eggs were gifts from Czars to his wives and mothers. It is the handicraft of a guy called Carl Faberge/his company http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Carl_Faberg%C3%A9, products ranging from pendant to album, extremely creative; lovely miniature within the eggs, amazing indeed.

More and more bread

La Baguette in LKF has vey nice baguette, a bit chewy but not too dry. The portion is big. I could only finish half of it each meal.

Months ago, I read from the magazine that a book shop owner will open a restaurant. I searched for it but could not locate where it was. Perhaps at that time it was still a concept in the book owner's mind. Finally I found it and had my lunch (price range: $55-73), very ok considering that it is in causeway bay.

I like the ambience. You can take exchange your used books with other customers. Put yours in the shelf and take one.You can find Freud, Malcom Gladwell books and some chinese easy readings.

And Mackie kitchen offers good coffee. I ordered Study coffee (sweet), though the nice waitress could not tell me what study coffee is...

I am always in support of people who love books, music, food and coffee. The owner of Mackie family actualises many people's dreams.Hooray!

阿姨說我的西瓜中了暑,西瓜會中暑?姨丈.舅母和應,曬得太多,變了味,起沙的樣子,但不是變壞,只是中暑.神奇啊!

城市中尋食探秘

我喜愛行街走小路,在熟識地區發掘新事物.在過去一星期,我才第一次去赫德道.渡船街等等.跨區到油麻地,我以前幫襯食過的新興棧粥店門面更新,及又看見蔡生食評提過譚仔雲南米線,決定一嘗(小)麻辣米線,麻我最後頂不住,而且我覺得太咸.不過腐皮吸了湯很好吃,小店土匪雞翼也不錯.途經三級火現場,消防車排排封了成條街,但幸好無人受傷.現在終於知道佐敦老趙越南菜館老店位置,又無意中發現位於暗角蘇絲黃推介的腸粉店.至於,尖沙咀赫德街的万豚屋黑担担烏冬令人回味,極想再吃.

在小街裡,往往藏著種種(美食)驚喜.

誇張有理

幾年前見朋友鄉下的親友,到港必買多箱奶粉給寶貝女兒,當時覺得很誇張,現在明白擔心有理.為利己而傷害別人,尤其傷害無力反抗的小孩子-明日社會的楝樑,是可恥又短視的表現.

Why mama mia?

I watched mama mia in theatre and in cinema. THe songs sound better when singing live but in cinema you can see the sky and the blue water.
Mama mia make you not afraid of getting old, if you can still sing and dance of course...

p.s. According to the program 'Abba and mamamia', Meryl Streep said that she always wants to be a singer. No wonder that she sings so well.

Kaya toast again

Though I had not tried Toast Box in Singapore, I did in HK. I tasted the kaya toast set at Silvercord, TST.

The coffee and the kaya toast are very 'singapore' but the eggs are not so. Here they serve poached eggs and fried eggs. Toast box also has local food like 'bo law pau'. In general, I like it. Next time will definitely try the Laksa, looks good too.

btw, I finally saw starbucks whole crunchy chiffon cake, my sister bought that. The cream is not too sweet and it is nice.

p.s. maxim will have crunchy ciffon cake as well, NEW!

the real bread

After reading U magazine, I decided to go to the real bread to try some good bread. Bread is real and when I taste it, I feel real.

W Hotel@hk

My sister took me to a function@Megu this afternoon. After tasting their signature finger food, we went to see nearby W hotel. This is a new hotel attached to elements. I wanted to see how hip it is. There are way too many hip hotels joining the market in recent years. And this one is nice but not particularly impressive. I was a bit disappointed.

Afterwards, I had my dinner at xian mian noodle shop. The last impression I had was not particularly good. I went there to try again and the 'yang chun mian' impressed me with its soup and the noodle only costs $24.

Essentials in girls' gathering - desserts

We tried the desserts @ rice paper, Harbour city. As we had 7 persons, we can order many desserts.Btw, 煎蛋麵 好好味!!!

Gee Gee

As I mentioned before, my niece knows a number of words. She knows how to call her mother, father, grandafather, grandmother, uncle.... but she never calls me Aunt. So my sister is now teaching her to speak my name. And she now gets it -- Gee Gee. I do not look like an aunt to her perhaps. That is why she feels calling me Gee Gee more comfortable, more fun. When I taught sunday school, the kids used to call me 'Miss Cheese' (in cantonese 'Gee Si Luo C'. Gee Gee=Miss Cheese=Me

Apple crumble + cheese cake

I went to a function in happy Valley today. FP and I had tea at Liz afterwards. I had a dessert that combines 2 of my favorite food - apple crumble cheesecake, so great!

Actually some unhappy things happened lately but God still gives me good news:
1. The Italian store il bel paese is newly open, really near where I live. I can easily buy their tiramisu ( best in town in my view)
2. I bought an outfit in a store that was far cheaper than an identical one I saw in another store in the first place.
3. I found 2 lai see (total$200) behind my drawer,ha ha...lucky money

女人劇作 男人友誼

昨日拿得黃子華男磨坊舞台劇首場劇票,坐在VIP位觀賞,經驗特別.三位演出者節奏及控制舞台空間能力很強,舞台傢具(估計Ovo贊助)簡潔有風格.更令人驚奇是原著編劇為女性,但對男性友誼愛恨角力描寫有立體感,演出者的技巧功力把平常故事刻劃出層次,值得觀賞,我也打算嘗試找找原著看看.

Re-discover Langham Place

Because of watching 'Happy go lucky', I revisited MK Langham Place - a new adventure for me. Previously i only visited part of it. This time, the whole place was like an amusement park to me. Thank you for xh's tolerance, I was able to go into some of my favoraite shops there like 石頭記, thailand brand human touch.
