A quiet place in Wanchai

Kapok cafe has good coffee and cupcake (it sells other cute things too) - good to do some reading there. And I like the street's quiteness.
I used to go there visiting relatives.
In my memory, there were dogs on the street and buildings with no lifts.
THe place is now completely transformed.

About conserving central district

Last year I have submitted a proposal to development bureau and the officials do listen and act fast too, there is beautification works already going on inside central market. Hope that these are not piecemeal attention.

I remembered that my secondary school Government and Public Affairs teacher Ms. Sum once told us in the class that she constantly submitted proposals (white paper, green paper consultations...). She set an example to us what an intellectual should be. The most remembered question she raised towards yr 16 teenagers :
you could choose to be either a 'happy pig' or 'painful scholar (Socrates)'(with a sacrastic tone) This question influences my choices ever after.

Meet Nature in Museum

Nowadays, Kids live in the Mall, play in the Mall, eat in the Mall
Their whole world is limited by the Mall
When you ask them what nature means
The answers you probably get:
The garden in the estate they live in
Or names of some theme parks
In a not very far away future
You will only meet nature in the museum
And the museum is a virtual one
You could click a button and surf
That is what we call ‘conservation’
Conservation is to contain 'nature' in a manageable environment
To the benefit of a few

Retreat Camp; Be still, and know that you are God

Long time no retreat
Revisiting a place that brings back memory
All the teachings and the theological trainings I received before shapes the person I am today. Thank God and that is what dawned on me in the retreat camp.

X2

Go Tell it on the mountain X2 in my church and in my sister's church (sang twice 24 Dec and 25 Dec respectively.
Amazing Grace x 2- being mentioned in the retreat camp on 2 Jan and choir sang it today
2 Peter Chapter 1 x2 - the scriptures that the retreat camp I attended focused on; same Chapter was mentioned in today's sermon.

God, you speak it so clearly by repeating them twice. I got it.

If we do not know how to read sherlock Holmes

The new movie Sherlock Holmes is, in a nutshell,
Postmodernizing the modern Sherlock Holmes by calling upon traces of signifiers; deconstructing the myth by using science and technology.

The movie is quite visual and exotic. It is a movie that combines many elements. It will remind you some of the films you watched before. It re-defines a new Sherlock Holmes: emotionally dependent, strategic rather than logical, more masculine but at the same time more feminine, what I would say...a bit like Dustin Hoffman type. Watson is now the partner of Sherlock on equal footing.

That is not the part that bothers me. I was shocked when the young audiences next to me complaining that they did not understand the story. Can our young people still read 'signs'? Detective stories are not hard to read. It is almost a guided reading. You are led by the clues that the detectives reveal. But if we cannot even follow, there must be sth wrong. NO clues? What's left if we lose our ability to reason and to imagine?
