Sensational - Joanna Wang

xh introduced her album to me. She is a taiwanese pop/ jazz singer. Sensational voice, surprising good! The music is fabulous. Perhaps because I like jazz. this album 'start from here' is my cup of tea.

Legco election campaign strategy

This is what I notice lately...

I saw Mrs. Yip and Dr. Shih (HK Island Legco election candidates) waving to 'me' on the street of Garden Road ( I was in a van). And the a few days later, another lady Miss Chan (HK Island Legco election candidate) standing on the other side of the road waving to the cars that passed by. Then when I was in Kowloon Tong MTR station, Kowloon East candidate Mr. Wong did the same. I remembered all their faces but these actions would not prompt me to vote for them.

I could not imagine myself waving to 'Air' (better termed it as 'wavng at strangers'. During those peak hours, passengers and passers by are either in a rush to offices or still in a sleeping mode. Effective strategy?

If you don't know them,it would mean
1 Male + 1 Female 揮手; 1 Female揮手; 1 Male揮手...
Will sb interpret it as wanting 順風車? Some of the candidates just wear suits. How can you tell who they are?

p.s.My friend xh told me that 馮兩努 has invented this strategy and it was effective. Thank you so much for the information. :) This history solved the mystery. But on what conditions, this strategy worked? will it still work?

Well, effective STILL ... will see.

Transformation

Korean Citron Tea is good but it is always packaged in a glass bottle. I have one at home but it is not easy to enjoy it in office.
There is good news for citron tea lovers. I found this in GREAT supermarket. Japanese transformed the packaging.

Connie, see... yellow again. Would you like some tea?

Yellow colour

FP still gave me souvenir, even if I travelled with her. I never wear yellow before. Only in the last 4 years, I bought T shirts, dresses, blouses in yellow. I now fall in love with yellow, so bright & energetic.

Feeling Thai

Mrs Chu gave me this Lemongrass drink. It is a very powerful drink. On the box, it says 'to detoxify the liver, pancreas, kidney, bladder and the digestive tract.....:> Woo!Incredible.
Apart from these side benefits, the drink brings you 100% spa feel, as this tea is normally served in spa house.

My niece

My niece is 18 mths already. She can speak a number of words. She likes music and knows how to switch on/off my hi-fi. She has ideas of her own and is comfortable doing her own activties. She is cautious about personal space and prefers one seater. You see, she did not even sit next to her dad hahaha! so independent....

How to prepare for Olympic closing ceremony?

I was at home entire weekend watching olympic games. My mum became huge fans of sports. She, all of sudden, said that she likes volleyball. No one else ever knows her 'secret love'. She even regretted for missing watching one game.

The Olympic Games tell us a lot...How to face glory. How to face failure. Jamaica women runners are fast runners but could not do relay. Bolt, the amazing fast runner, showed that he is also a team player. A taekwondo player who was too safe and lost 2 pts in the last 2 seconds. Taiwanese taekwondo sportswoman endured the pain and fought until the last minute. Swedish pingpong player at his age 42 continuted to play even the thigh muscle was hurt. The sportsmen are not by themsleves. They have teams to support them.

To celebrate the closing and the last Olympic basketball game (USA vs Spain), I get myself grilled chicken and coke 100% party food.

p.s. the USA vs Spain game was bravo. At the waiting hall of changyi airport last Monday, I was first attracted by Spain team. They are so good. I was happy that they made the game so exciting. THe 17 years old Ricky Rubio surprised me with his calmness, esp playing with the NBA stars.

Dream

Dream is a very strange thing. I had a dream today that is a continuaton of another dream months ago. The dream goes like this: the building I live in was refurbished and became part of another building. And my building has a new entrance.

This time, I cannot find my way to my building. The access has been blocked. My mum was forced to move to a room that the drainage has problems. I was so frustrated and decided to find a new flat. What interested me is not the content of the dream. I can explain it based on current problem we face-the lack of toilet water suppy because of the breakage of pipe. It caused inconvenience. Frustration is real and is reflected in my dream. But what fascinates me is that the continuation of the dream. Those previous dreams are not being forgotten but are being stored for future development. Interesting ah!

Typhoon day

This time we had signal no.9. So how to spend the day and enjoy the long weekend....
more sleeping, more eating, more music listening, more reading, more Olymics Game watching.

X file

Interesting things

1. FP 's watch did not work on the day we departed Hk. So we went to buy watch at HK airport. I bought one for my mum. And the second day, I discovered my watch stopped too, so I used the watch that I boughtfor my mum, see...things will fall into right places.

2. I dropped money in the subway, a man asked me to stop and gave me back S$2. Fung Ping dropped her camera, A lady told her to pick it up. See how nice Singapore people are.

3. The waitress at the cookie museum was extremely nice to us. She treated us fruit tea and 2 tea coupons (worth S$15 each). That is what we called hospitality.

4. A passer by (tourist we suppose) would not want to disturb us taking photos. He stood on teh side of the corridor waiting for us finishing taking photos without blocking the camera. He finally joined me in the photo as his companion said that he wanted to be in the photo. So I had a photo with a nice stranger. How fun!

Day 3 Cultural Day

Last day, took time to visit sth cultural, mint museum cafe, peranakan museum (must see), the Arts House, philathetic philathetic museum and final stop was Bakerzin, the cafe that my sister and I visited before, though not same location.

Day 2: foodie day

When Fung Ping attended the conference, I went out and searched for the famous Laska. According to the guidebook,10mins walk from Bedok MRT station. However, I could not find it and there was heavy rain. So I went to have set menu chicken rice, Teh Larik and wandered around in local supermarket. Bedok is dinitely a residential area. Then a girl told me that the Laska shop was not near at all. I took bus no.14 and reached the Lasik place after 30 mins. The Laksa was so good. I could have another one even if I was full. I bought a take away chicken rice for fung ping. She enjoyed it too.
Later in the evening, we went to Jumbo enjoying Chilli crab, yummy yummy. On the way back to hotel, we visited chimjes (Santuary turned restaurants and bars). See how awesome it is!

Day 1 Souvenir Day

Arrived Changyi Airport in the evening
First stop: China Town (buy Lim Chee Guan BBQ pork)
Second stop: Lau Pa Sat
Third stop: The cookie museum at Esplande Mall
We saw a rat running across the street near Lau Pa Sat
Singapore wor! Anyway, we tried many local food in Lau Pa Sat, not very delicious except for my fish noodle, but Lau Pa Sat must go ma.

Then we proceeded to find the legendary cookies that my aunt wanted so much. She asked me to buy it last time but I could not find out the name of the brand. This time, a deja-vu feeling, I walked by the cafe last time but did not know this was it.

In the cafe 'Cookie museum', we were being treated like queens or countesses. It is a cookie tasting experience, somewhat like degustation. Small bits of cookes are put in numerous jars and the waitress pushes the trolley to your front and gracefully takes you to a cookie tasting journey. The place did not allow photography. I could only indulge in my memory of the whole thing.

They served us cold refreshing fruit tea for free. The cookies are comparatively expensive but they are all handmade with no eggs and low sugar. It may not be the type we are familar with but when you will remember the smell once you open the can of cookies. The smell of fruit enchants you and it brings good memory.

Singapore Trip

It was my second trip to Singapore in this year. My sister asked me if I have a boyfriend there, wish I have but NO...hahaha :)
This time fung ping went there for conference. I was invited to join her and spent a weekend. The trip was so short, that I could not find time to meet my friends in Singapore. Sat in, Mon out. And I forgot to bring my friend's mobile no with me even though I dined at the restaurant which is on the same building where she and her husband live.
Anyway, great fun, take train and bus to go around. Taking train to airport only costs S$1.5, what a bargain. So free for accomodation, used around S$11 for transportation, I am pleased with the budget trip. Will tell you more in the subsequent entries.

Local Musical

Watched 'Dying young' (5th run) with Ah Ying. Long long time ago, ellen recommended this musical to me. Entire show was about singers Danny Chan, Leslie cheung and DJ Paul Chong. so really like a mini concert, fans shouting and cheering.
It was directed by CH Lo from Ching Ying Drama Co. . The best supporting actor in the show will go to chung ying and become full time actor. Looking forward to his performance.

Kay's album: binary

The album is fantastatic. All songs are lovely, fabulous and have 'hk' feel.
Soda Green's band sound HOT!

Hot dog

Wing Lok Yuen Hot dog, central, always within the top 10 list in open rice web page.
It actually reminded me of the hot dog served in my secondary school tuck shop.

It breathes?

Equestrian ticket

Got it!

Salad

After tasting Mrs. chu's delicious cesar salad, I wanted to eat salad again on sat & sun , salad plus peach yoghurt
btw, the soft drink was from bottled Pina colada

The opening

I watched the Olympics opening with Mr. Chu and Mrs. Chu since they have HD receiver box (a must in this opening to fully enjoy the visual effects. )The opening was visually pleasing, very Director Zhang's style. I found it amazing as people in china were so open to new forms, eg. the use of LED. I do not believe the HK govt will try sth so technological, so unprecedental.

Still some people criticised the opening at the phone in radio show. Their criticisms were...

1. The opening was offically closed on 9 Aug, not 8 Aug
2. The kid who held the National Flag in an improper way
3. No story behind the show
4. Turn altheles to artists

All these may be true but

I did not notice that it was another day as the show was good.
And kid is kid, spare them.
It is very unlikely to have a single narrative in China, one world one dream and ..one story??!!
Yes, it is about the form, symbolic images for the viewers all over the world
It may be better if it has a story but the form gave us pleasure and excitment anyhow.
What all the images definitely tell, China = people ...many people... many people together doing same thing....
It was a show, I guess all openings are. And the modern trend is that altheles are becoming artists

So I am pretty happy with the opening (at least peaceful and safe).
I watched more olympic games on sat - weightlifting, swimming, judo, gymnastics??,really happy for the sportsmen
They work very hard for what they get. The judo game is a 5 mins per game, very enjoyable indeed. The Korean medalist was so excited and could not help crying.

So be there be peace for whereever we hold the Olympic Game.
