給大學校長A Farewell

Yesterday I watched an extract of an interview on news about HKUST VC who is going to finish his term at HKUST.
I was very much impressed that he showed genuie care for the academic environment in HK. He worried that the society was too money oriented. Students prefer earning money than doing research. He also pointed out that research fundings for universities are not enough.
I was so touched to find that HKUST students are using their own ways to farewell their VC.

In fact, R&D is not for fast money earning but R&D represents future. Scientific breakthoughs are in fact years of work. We need people who can see priorities with long term plan and vision.
