Are we teaching them enough?

Just read a gross news about a crime that has taken place in a local paediatrics ward. The suspect is a 13 years old kid. I wondered whether we have taught our youngsters enough to protect themselves and protect others from harm or at least not to harm others.
As grown ups, what do we 'feed' the kids eveyday? Wile we are enjoying our freedom of information (no censorship), are we sacrificing the next generation?
The other day in a friend's home, he showed me a book called 'the book of virtues'. Yes, we need to pass on the virtues for the good of ourselves and others.
